400 Supporters Protest in Trenton

Over 400 librarians and supporters rallied in Trenton yesterday to protest Gov. Christie’s proposed 74 % cut to state library funding, which, if passed, could also cost libraries at least $4.5 million in federal matching funds. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the day. Plus, Assemblyman John DiMaio has introduced Proposition A2555 to eliminate the minimum local funding requirement for municipal libraries. This local library funding -- less than 3% of local property taxes, may force libraries throughout NJ to close their doors for good.
